LET'S CHAT ABOUT SELF DOUBT
I wanted to share this look today but also talk about something we don't acknowledge often and that is self doubt. There's a lot of that going around and I think it's time to start a conversation.
What does self doubt mean? Well here's what google says:
Self doubt tends to creep up on me when I have a handful of projects going on at the same time. When it hits me, it makes me doubt that I am capable of doing what the job requires. It sucks but I snap out of it because I know I can get the job done. I am more than capable of accomplishing whatever the task at hand may be, but knowing that alone isn't always what helps me break away from that little voice in my head telling me I can't so if self doubt is something you struggle with I'm here to tell you that YOU CAN along with 3 key tips to help:
- BELIEVE IN YOURSELF: Cheesy right? But really, it's all a mental game against yourself. My volleyball coaches used to always tell me this whenever I struggled in practice (which was a lot) they would tell me that to be able to land a new skill, I needed to think I could. Instead of giving up I conditioned myself to think "I can do it, just a little more, push yourself Vikki," and this mentality has stayed with me since.
- SURROUND YOURSELF WITH GOOD VIBES: This is extremely important not only for you to deal with self doubt but to be happy. Surround yourself with people who motivate you, inspire you, believe in you, and more importantly who are honest with you! That's easier said than done but take time to figure out if those close to you really bring that support, honest advice, and reality check every now and then that you need in your life.
- DON'T COMPARE: I'm guilty of doing this and I am guessing most people are too. We often compare ourselves to everyone around us, even when we don't realize it. Joe got a raise and I didn't? Suzie gets to travel and I don't? It's healthier to nip this habit in the bud because it doesn't help get you anywhere. Everyone lives their life at their own pace and have their own journeys, if you constantly compare yourself to others around you it will only make you sad, angry, and miserable.
I can only wish all of you the best of vibes and hope that these tips help, even if it's in the smallest of ways because I know firsthand what it's like to doubt yourself. Nobody needs that, and if you put your mind into it you can do anything. Have any thoughts on the topic or tips of your own? Share them below.
